Heliskiing Guides

THE GUIDES & SAFETY

Nearly twenty-five years ago our guides founded Telluride Helitrax. Today their years of dedication, terrain specific knowledge, and training ensure our guests a safe and remarkable helicopter skiing experience

Telluride Helitrax's guides spend each day of the heli-ski season observing, recording, and sharing snow, weather, and avalanche observations from within their alpine workplace.  They are trained professionals who hold avalanche, guiding, and explosive certifications, instruct avalanche courses, and above all are cautious in their decision making.  In twenty-three years of powder skiing in the San Juans, Helitrax has never had a guest so much as caught in an avalanche.  Trust our guides to lead you safely through some of North America's most breathtaking alpine powder skiing terrain.

THE HELICOPTER

All of our helicopter skiing guests fly in the comfort of a Bell 407 helicopter. Each seat from within a 407 offers unobstructed views which soar above the jagged San Juans.  Air Resources Helicopters has provided Helitrax with aircraft for 15 seasons. Air Resource's equipment, pilots, and safety record is second to none.

Why you should make your reservation today:

Early reservations allow us every opportunity to combine individuals to share the cost of the air-transport to Telluride for the Aspen, Vail, CB, and Steamboat heliskiing.  If a guest is unsure of their group size or wished to sign up as an individual, Telluride Helitrax will only charge a guest when we are able to meet an agreed upon skier minimum.

By making an advanced reservation guests ensure their preferred heli-skiing dates.  Seats are limited. On a daily basis Telluride Helitrax flies a maximum of only 16 skiers.

Telluride Helitrax will not heli-ski if conditions by our account are poor (i.e.: breakable crust or lack of snow). Conditions in the backcountry are usually significantly better than on the ski areas.

Additional Notes:
A fuel surcharge of $10 to $20 may be added if conditions dictate.
