THE BEAR CREEK DESCENT
To celebrate our 25th season Helitrax is offering a guided 4,300 foot descent from the upper reaches of the Bear Creek drainage to the streets of Telluride. A minimum group size of three expert skiers or riders is needed. Skiers must in excellent physical condition. The cost is $285- per/person for groups of three or four. The package includes guide service, helicopter access, avalanche beacon, shovel pack, and powder ski rental.Tours will take place when the snowpack is at its deepest and most stable state (generally in later March and April). For experienced backcountry skiers additional hike to terrain is available if conditions and weather permit.
THE TERRAIN
The Bear Creek terrain is challenging. It will take 2 to 3-1/2 hours to complete this run depending on depth of snow and skier fitness level. Clients will access the backcountry of Telluride with a professional guide service.
HELI-SKIING IS ALL ABOUT THE WEATHER
The weather will make the ultimate determination concerning each Bear Creek Descent. Additionally this package will only be offered when the snowpack is at its deepest and most stable. This generally occurs in the months of March and April.
Guests are asked to understand these facts and then pick at least one weather day (preferably two-days) in case weather prevents the helicopter from flying on their chosen day. Refunds will be issue if Telluride Helitrax is unable to fly.
